We hope you were able to participate in some of the many Earth Day activities that were held across our community last month.  It was great to see so many of our neighbors coming together to celebrate our planet.  We can't wait for the next Earth Day!

 

With Spring now in full swing, our team has been gearing up for the gardening season and the 2024 Natural Garden Tour.  The new Natural Garden Tour booklet has officially been released, read on below and get a sneak peek of the picturesque collection of gardens that will be on this year's tour and find out about other green news and events in our community.

2024 Natural Garden Tour Presented by Clark County Green Neighbors- Join us on Sunday, June 23rd.

This year, a selection of Clark County gardeners are inviting the community to take in the beauty of natural gardening. This self-guided tour includes local properties large and small that showcase native plants, lawn alternatives, and other sustainable features grown for a variety of purposes.

Conscious Consumption Series- Red Worm Composting

Learn how to compost using red worms to turn food scraps into all-natural fertilizer for your garden from the experts with the Clark County Composter Recycler program. This is a great alternative to backyard composting, especially if you are tight on space. Upon completion, Clark County residents will have the chance to receive their own worm bin, free of charge!

Savory Pancake Recipe from Clark County Wins National Food Waste Prevention Cooking Challenge

The National Food Waste Prevention Week team recently announced winners of their first cooking challenge. In celebration of Food Waste Prevention Week, participants were asked to submit a recipe that helps to rescue food from becoming waste. Stacey Tigner-Loy from Vancouver's WSU Extension SNAP-Ed program submitted her savory pancake recipe that was selected as one of only four winners. Congratulations to Stacey and be sure to try the recipe out for yourself!
