Green Business Spotlight: Kindred Homestead Supply
Clark County's newest certified green business is Kindred Homestead Supply. Kindred is a brand-new store in downtown Vancouver that sells low-waste and sustainably made home goods, vintage items, and bulk products. Owner Alex Luna was inspired to open the store after taking the Clark County Master Composter Recycler (MCR) training class last year. Throughout the class, she learned about composting, recycling, and waste reduction practices that are at the foundation of the store's mission. Alex is still a very active volunteer with the MCR Program and continues to be inspired by her fellow community members.
Since opening in September, Kindred Homestead Supply has been busy! Because of the pandemic, more and more people are becoming aware of the waste associated with single-use items, and Kindred is a perfect place to help reduce waste. From all-purpose cleaner to cocoa butter refills, their bulk section has everything you could ever need to clean your home or maintain your beauty regimen. You can bring your own bottles and containers to be refilled too! They also feature many sustainable products that are third-party certified (vegan, organic, etc.) with minimal packaging and labeling.
Kindred Homestead Supply has only been open for a few months, but they have already outgrown the original location. The store is moving to a larger space to accommodate all their new products and merchandise. Although their storefront is currently closed for in-person shopping , folks can still order online and pick up their items in person or have them delivered. All in all, Alex wants Kindred to not only be a space to find sustainable goods but for like-minded folks to come together for events, gatherings, and workshops.
