Green Neighbors Program

The Clark County Green Neighbors Program is coordinated by Clark County Works Solid Waste and Environmental Outreach to assist citizens with developing more sustainable lifestyles and building a strong environmental community in Clark County. Solid waste regional planning and programs are a cooperative effort of Battle Ground, Camas, Clark County, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver, Washougal, and Yacolt.

On the Road Tour-Timeless Perennials

It’s peak iris season at Schreiner’s Garden in Salem. It’s their 100th Anniversary, a testament to their commitment to these beauties. We’ll have a presentation and learn about new hybrids, award winning varieties, tour their fields and display gardens. We can shop potted irises and/or place an order.

Next, we head to Adelman’s Peony Gardens which has over 30 acres and over 500 varieties of peonies. We’ll learn more about this family-owned garden, new varieties, and how to better grow peonies. We’ll tour their fields, display gardens and have an opportunity to purchase or order more. Lunch is on your own at Route 99 Restaurant.

Finally Garden World, or “10 Acres of Awesome” in Hubbard. They have a diverse inventory from local growers to enhance any size garden. We’ll learn which plants do best with our current conditions, including how to address the changing needs of our gardens. Cost: $41 (includes $6 entry to Shreiner's.) Wednesday, May 21. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes.
