Green Neighbors Program

The Clark County Green Neighbors Program is coordinated by Clark County Public Health’s Solid Waste and Environmental Outreach to assist citizens with developing more sustainable lifestyles and building a strong environmental community in Clark County. Solid waste regional planning and programs are a cooperative effort of Battle Ground, Camas, Clark County, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver, Washougal, and Yacolt.

Forest Under Siege: The Story of Old Growth after Gifford Pinchot

Washington Native Plant Society Book Lecture and Annual Meeting. Presentation by Rand Schenck on his recent book Forest Under Siege: The Story of Old Growth after Gifford Pinchot. The book examines 100 years of forestry in our national forests through the primary lens of what happened in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The event is from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Red Worm Composting

Compost Field Training at Heritage Farm

Join volunteers to work at the The Heritage Farm compost demo site is located at 1919 NE 78th Street, WA 98665. . 

Composting Field Instruction includes:

  • Weed identification
  • Types of composting systems
  • How to build a hot compost pile
  • How to turn a compost pile
  • How to use compost
  • How to make a lasagna garden

Please be sure to dress for the weather (wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty and sturdy work boots), bring garden gloves, snacks/water.

Speaker Series: Green Schoolyards - Native Plants and Habitats in Local Schools, a presentation by Jane Tesner Kleiner

This session is perfect for beginners or teachers looking to inspire their students to explore the outdoors and learn how to care for our local pollinators. This is a free event hosted by Vancouver Bee Project.
